Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a building rating system which provides a framework for green buildings that are healthy, have lower carbon emissions, efficient, and cost-effective. By meeting the prerequisites of LEED for carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health, and indoor environmental quality, a project/building can earn points toward LEED certification. Eventually, LEED certification is chosen by project teams and owners to inform, benchmark, and celebrate their sustainability goals and accomplishments to consumers. The LEED certification is a globally accepted sign of sustainability and leadership achievement and with the certification, people are given the ability to select eco-friendly options that are in line with their project’s vision and requirements.
